Resources for makers

Tools, recipes & notes from the kiln.

A working library for other ceramicists: glaze recipes, firing schedules, the small ideas that took me a long time to learn. Take what's useful, leave the rest.

Studio resources, on the bench
Studio guides

Notes I wrote because nobody else had.

Short, honest write-ups on the parts of ceramics that are hardest to find online: small-batch glaze testing, designing a tile cutter, kiln scheduling for mid-fire stoneware.
Underglaze pencils, honestly.

Cone 6 oxidation, schedule by schedule.

Three firing schedules that work for the iron-saturated glazes I keep coming back to, annotated with what each soak is doing and why.

Glaze archive

Every recipe, every firing, online.

A separate project: a public glaze notebook. Recipes, firing schedules, tests that worked, tests that didn't. Updated whenever the kiln cools.
glazes.sphv.studio

A working notebook, kept in the open.

The archive started as a private spreadsheet. It's now a living website, tagged by base recipe, firing schedule, clay body, and result. Search it, fork it, send corrections.

Got a question, or a correction?

I love hearing from other makers. Send a note, even if it's just to point out a glaze I should retest.
