The story

What lies behind the shapes.

Fish-scale tiles are a style of tile that resembles the overlapping scales of a fish, featuring a distinctive shape and texture that adds visual interest and depth to walls, floors, and other surfaces.

Fish scale tiles are timeless due to their elegant and organic shape, as well as their versatility in design. It's a pattern that has been independently arrived at across cultures and centuries, always with the same visual result of movement, depth, and layered rhythm.

The fish scale pattern was one of the first tile cutters I designed, as part of a pattern that locks together with multiple shapes. I love designing shapes that can either stand on their own or play a part in a larger pattern collection.

The pieces that lock together.

All of my tiles are cut from hand-rolled slabs with tile cutters I designed myself.
