The story

What lies behind the shapes.

Quite an ambitious pattern: a circle, a fish scale, and a small pip. Three shapes locked into a field that reads almost like an old courtyard floor.

I've always liked things that come in a package, a sort of 3-in-1 situation, so the best part about this pattern is that its shapes fit together to form different patterns on their own. Fish scales can form an independent pattern, and circles and pips form another. There are many variations one can get from these shapes, but I love using the circle and the pip as inverts, the point where the pattern mirrors itself, which lets it repeat indefinitely.

All of my tiles are cut from hand-rolled slabs with tile cutters I designed myself.

Variations

Same pattern, different vibe.

Each pattern is fired in a few colourways with different clay bodies and different glazes. Tap a card to read the story of that batch.
